Pro Tip #5

Embrace your core

As we’ve shared in previous posts…dudes are different than girls physically, emotionally and mentally.  This is by design and it is good! One characteristic that separates the XX’s from the XY’s is physical strength and muscle mass.  Guys have more muscle and less fat on average.

Now, having been blessed from above with more muscle, we also have the responsibility of “keeping your house up.”  In other words, ensure that your body is in good condition and you are physically fit.

Don’t worry, we aren’t saying all guys should become muscle bound mirror-focused gym bro’s whose life revolves around watching themselves pump iron in a tank and spray tan.

But we are advocating, for being physically fit and working to increase your strength and improving your body composition. (ratio of fat to lean tissue)

“Why?  Who even cares?  what does this have to do with dating and relationships?”

You just might be surprised at some of the connections. Here are a few to consider.

  1. Women prefer men who appear physically fit. No, they don’t obsess over physical looks like guys do but they definitely take notice.  Of course, being in shape doesn’t make up for a rude personality nor will it overcome a lack of personal motivation and goals. Ladies do, however, want a guy who can physically care for and protect them as well as have the ability to handle and play with children…should marriage and a family be in the cards.

They also need a guy who can schlep their many oversized suitcases of shoes and clothes up three flights of stairs. So, there’s that as well…. If you can’t haul their piles of…”stuff”…you just might be out of the running….

2. There is a correlation between fitness, strength, emotional confidence and well-being. It is well known that a variety of exercise forms generate the release of dopamine in the brain giving credence to the phrase “a runner’s high.”  Dopamine is the feel-good chemical and activities that generate its release can improve your mental well-being.  In addition, there is a certain self-confidence that accompanies improving your musculoskeletal fitness.

Toning the body, in addition to increasing your strength, carries not only these immediate health and longevity benefits, but the elevated self-confidence directly impacts your ability to attract and interact with women. Notice we said “self-confident” vs cocky, arrogant or being an all-around butthead.  Key differences!

 3. Fit dudes live longer.  Exercises that strengthen the heart and lungs push away a host of lifestyle related diseases. Combining heart fitness with improved muscle strength together attacks obesity, diabetes and similar health maladies. This is not high-level math we’re talking here fellas, it’s 7th grade health class basics.

No one expects you to morph into the Rock or the Wolverine in order to woo a woman. But increasing your mental and physical health, along with basic hygiene, (yes dude showers are no longer “optional”) will give your overall attractiveness to the opposite sex a boost.

 Every guy’s body is different and no one size fits all workout regimen applies to everyone, but in simple terms you can do 3 main things;

            • Get stronger and increase your muscle mass.

            • Get leaner- decrease your body fat, loose the belly and increase your tone.

            • Get in better cardiovascular shape: increase your ability to walk, jog, swim, bike, etc. for longer periods of time.

If you gear your exercise plan to achieve these 3 broad goals, you will be on your way to becoming healthier, happier and more confident.

Coincidentally, it just so happens that these are 3 key areas of attraction to a lady.

We are NOT pointing you to a specific goal of size or strength or chest measurement.  In addition to being superficial, that sort of directive is impossible for most guys.

We all can’t have pro athlete physiques (except football linemen perhaps) or look like some chiseled body builder/fitness model.

But we can all improve; we can start where we are on the fitness spectrum and make progress.

That my friend, is the goal.  To reprise an old Army marketing slogan….”to be the best you can be, physically, emotionally and mentally.”

To this list we would throw in “spiritually” for added spice.

If you’re new to the workout world, here’s a link to the good folks over at the Art of Manliness website. They have tons of dude-friendly articles and resources. We highly recommend them.

So let’s wrap this puppy up.

Girls aren’t looking for a guy who’s a perfect physical specimen, but they are looking for someone who makes the time and spends the effort to keep themselves in the best shape they can.

If you are willing to give up on your own body and personal fitness, especially to the point where it becomes unhealthy, they might just wonder how many other important things in life you’re willing to let slide.

Something to chew on. Strong, confident men are attractive.

Time to get in shape bruh!
